PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — An Accokeek man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Calvert County led deputies to glass smoking devices, capsules and other items containing suspected heroin residue, according to charging documents.

Vincent Perry Brooks, 34, of Accokeek, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and one count of possession of CDS paraphernalia.

A deputy was patrolling on Main Street in the area of Old Field Lane on May 4, 2026, when he saw a large piece of food waste thrown from the passenger side window of a vehicle and into a grassy area off the roadway, according to the report.

The deputy followed the vehicle south on Main Street and conducted a traffic stop near Calvert Towne Road. Police said Brooks was driving, with two passengers inside the vehicle.

While speaking with Brooks, the deputy said he appeared nervous, fidgety and argumentative about the traffic stop. The report states one passenger also was seen reaching toward the door area near his leg.

The deputy requested additional units and a CDS K9. Police said Brooks had a valid Virginia license but was listed as Code N, meaning narcotics, through Calvert County Control Center records.

After additional deputies arrived, all occupants were removed from the vehicle. A K9 conducted an open-air sniff and gave a positive alert for the odor of controlled dangerous substances, according to charging documents.

A search of the vehicle found a light purple metal bin containing a glass smoking device with heroin residue, numerous tin foil folds with burnt heroin residue, a rolled dollar bill with burnt heroin residue, a clear capsule with heroin and a metal rod, according to police.

Deputies also reported finding copper strands, a white plastic bag tear-off, a blue alprazolam pill under the rear passenger seat cushion, a glass smoking device with heroin residue and tin foil under the driver’s seat, and another clear capsule with heroin residue between the front seat and center console.

A prescription pill bottle found inside a black jacket on the rear seat contained five clear capsules with heroin residue, copper strands with heroin residue, tin foil with burnt heroin residue, a piece of paper with burnt heroin residue, a yellow tube with heroin residue and a white-and-purple buprenorphine and naloxone tablet.

Brooks advised that the items found inside the vehicle belonged to him, according to charging documents.

Brooks was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. Court records show he was released on his own recognizance on May 4, 2026.

A trial is set for June 18, 2026, at Calvert District Court.

Under Maryland law, the listed charges carry up to three years of incarceration and up to $15,500 in fines if Brooks is convicted and sentenced to the maximum consecutive terms.
