
UPDATE: CALLAWAY, Md. – On Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020 at 6:02 am, St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office Deputies responded to a motor vehicle collision at Piney Point Road and Take It Easy Ranch Road in Callaway. The Sheriffโs Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
Preliminary investigation determined that a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, operated by Joseph Quade, 73 of Callaway, attempted to turn left from Piney Point Road onto Take It Easy Ranch Road. While making the turn, the vehicle was struck by a Toyota Sequoia SUV, operated by Andrew Rogers, 33 of Callaway.
Joseph Quade, the operator of the Chevy S10, and passenger John Quade, 79 of Callaway, were both flown out to Washington DC area hospitals for incapacitating injuries. At Washington Hospital Center, Joseph Quade was later pronounced deceased. Rogers was transported to MedStar St. Maryโs Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.
At this time, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.

CALLAWAY, Md. – Just after 6 a.m., police, fire and rescue personnel was dispatched to Piney Point Road in the area of Take It Easy Ranch Road for a motor vehicle accident with people trapped.
Rescue Squad 7 and Chief 7B from Hollywood VFD responded shortly after dispatch with 6 Volunteers. First arriving units from 2nd District VFD arrived to find a 2 vehicle collision with 1 trapped and 1 pinned.
Rescue Squad 7 arrived on the scene and went to work with engine 32 assisting with the extrication. The crew removed doors, the roof, and pushed the dash to free the trapped and pinned occupants. Both patients were turned over to EMS and transported by MEDEVAC to a Trauma Center.
*Station 7 is 6th on the run card for this Box area. Because a couple of Squads are OOS Mechanically in the County, Rescue Squad 7 was the 2nd Squad on the assignment. Rescue Squad 7 arrived on the scene within 15 minutes from responding.*
