SUITLAND, Md. – Homicide Unit detectives identified and charged two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting last Thursday evening in Suitland. The suspects are 44-year-old Wardell Holland III of Suitland and 41-year-old Shaquita Stewart of Suitland. They are charged in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Donnell Tyler of District Heights.
On March 21, 2024, at approximately 7:30 pm, officers responded to the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road for the report of a shooting. Officers located Tyler in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was shot during a dispute with the suspects. The suspects and victim were known to each other. Following the shooting, both suspects fled the scene. Detectives with the Fugitive Unit located and arrested Holland and Stewart on Friday.
Holland is charged with second degree murder. Stewart is charged with first and second degree murder as well as accessory after the fact. They are both in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
