MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Two children were flown to an area hospital Thursday evening after being injured in a four-wheeler crash in Mechanicsville.
Emergency crews responded around 5:27 p.m. on March 19, 2026, to a residence on Yowaiski Mill Road for a report of traumatic injuries with a helicopter requested.
According to initial reports, a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old were riding on a four-wheeler without helmets when they struck a parked vehicle, causing the ATV to roll over.
The 6-year-old was reportedly unconscious for a short period of time following the crash. Firefighters arriving on scene reported both children were conscious and alert but suffering from head injuries.
Maryland State Police Trooper 7 airlifted both children to Children’s National Hospital. Their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
Authorities confirmed the incident occurred in the private driveway of a residence, and the roadway remained open during the response.
Police are investigating the incident.
