PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Westminster man faces misdemeanor drug charges following an undercover narcotics investigation and traffic stop in Calvert County that led to the recovery of suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia, according to charging documents.
Courtney Jamal Gray, 35, was arrested Jan. 8, 2026, following a Drug Enforcement Unit investigation that began earlier that day in St. Leonard. According to a statement of probable cause, deputies were contacted by a witness who reported observing Gray meet with a known drug user and engage in behavior detectives said was consistent with a drug transaction.
Investigators established surveillance and later observed Gray leave the area in a black Honda Accord. Deputies continued monitoring the vehicle as it traveled through the county before initiating a traffic stop near Solomons Island Road and Cove Point Road, police said. According to the report, Gray was slow to stop, which investigators noted can be an indicator of an attempt to conceal or destroy evidence.
A K-9 unit conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted positively for the presence of narcotics, authorities said. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of several items containing white powder residue suspected to be cocaine, including plastic tear-offs, a silver metal pipe, and other containers described as consistent with drug paraphernalia. Deputies also reported finding U.S. currency and electronic payment cards.
Court documents state residue believed to be cocaine was also found on the driver’s seat. All suspected contraband was seized and submitted for further testing.
Gray was taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanor offenses.
Court records show Gray was released the same day on his own recognizance. A trial is scheduled for Feb. 23 in Calvert District Court.
