UPDATE AT 7:30 p.m.

Great Mills, MD – A 14-year-old male athlete sustained a head injury during a football scrimmage at Great Mills High School (GMHS) Wednesday, Oct. 21. According to sources the youth was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC. There is no word on his condition.

Crews from The Bay District Volunteer Fire Department and Lexington Park Rescue Squad were dispatched to GMHS around 5:30 p.m. and prepared the teen for transport.


Great Mills, MD – At around 6 p.m. authorities in St, Mary’s County reported a Maryland State Police helicopter would be landing at Great Mills High School to transport an injured athlete to a Washington area hospital. The landing is planned for an athletic field on the campus.
