UPDATE – Incident report from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20
Hollywood, MD – On Nov. 20, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center received information regarding an aircraft attempting to land at St. Maryโs County Regional Airport, located at 44200 Airport Road, in California.ย The planeโs landing gear did not deploy, so the plane, a 1966 Piper PA30 twin engine airplane, was circling the area of the airport to burn fuel, to allow for an emergency landing.ย
Emergency Services arrived on the scene along with deputies from the St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office. At approximately 4:26 P.M., the airplane piloted by Anthony James Capozzi, conducted an emergency landing, on the airport runway.ย Mr. Capozzi was uninjured, and damage to the plane appears to be limited to the bottom of the aircraft.ย Mr. Capozzi was the only occupant of the airplane.ย
The Federal Aviation Administration was notified of the incident, and will be continuing the investigation.ย It is unknown at this time what caused the landing gear not to deploy.

UPDATE – As of 4:27 p.m., authorities report that the aircraft in distress has landed. The plane is reportedly in one piece and without fire. The pilot is being checked over by medical professionals but appears uninjured at this time.ย

UPDATE – As of 4:15 p.m., TheBayNet.com breaking news team reported that authorities are closing down the Hollywood airport as they work towards landing the aircraft in distress. Two planes separate from the incident are currently being called in to land as to make room for the aircraft in distress.ย

HOLLYWOOD, Md. – On November 20 at 2:53 p.m., TheBayNet.com breaking news team reported of a small aircraft experiencing issues with their landing gear. The pilot is reportedly circling the airport as they work towards finding a landing solution. Fire and EMS are on the scene.
