Updated press release by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office:

On July 16 at 11:45 a.m., officers responded to the 6900 block of Wood Glenn Drive in Hughesville after the homeowner discovered his son, Damian Harley, 37, inside his house and deceased from a gunshot wound.

Officers checked further and found another victim deceased with a gunshot wound. Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division responded and at this point, it appears Damian Harley shot the second victim and then shot himself.

A gun was recovered on the scene. A motive is not clear. Det. J. Elliott is investigating.
