
Update 9/22/2017: The male victim of the shooting, Michael Covert, 36, of Annapolis died from his injuries on September 21st. The female victim, Lashira Addison, 41, of Annapolis, has been released from the hospital.ย Barnabas Offer, Jr. was charged with two counts each of attempted first and attempted second-degree murder, two counts each of first and second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, and illegal possession of a handgun.ย Offer is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.ย Detectives are working with the Anne Arundel County Stateโs Attorney to file additional charges against Offer because of the death of Michael Covert.

(Annapolis, MD)100 block of Madison St โ 09/20 at 7:49 pm:ย Officers responded to the 1100 block of Madison St for reports of shots fired.ย Officers located two shooting victims, a 41-year-old woman from Annapolis and a 36-year-old man, in the 1100 block of Medgar Evers St.ย Both victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment.ย The womanโs injuries appear to be non-life threatening, the manโs injuries are more severe.ย ย
Information was developed that the suspect in the shooting was in a home in Edgewater.ย Officers responded to that home and at 5:25 a.m. Barnabas Offer, Jr., 25, of Annapolis exited the home and was arrested without further incident.ย Offer, Jr., 25, was arrested for two counts of attempted murder and other related charges.ย Offer will be transported to the District Court Commissioner for his initial hearing.
Two other people were arrested last night in the 1100 block of Madison St during the investigation into the shooting.ย Craig Belt, 30, of Annapolis and Delvonta Wright, 25, of Severn were arrested and charged with handgun possession and four fourth-degreeย burglary after they were found in an apartment.ย The apartment resident, who was not home at the time, said Belt and Wright did not have permission to be inside the home.ย Officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment and a handgun was recovered inside.ย It is unknown at this time if this is the weapon used by the shooter. Belt and Wright will be transported to the District Court Commissioner for their initial hearings.
