The chief of the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department (Company 6) reports that several firefighters were dispatched to a house fire on East Chesapeake Beach Road in Chesapeake Beach Nov. 20 around 10 p.m.

According to Company 6 Chief Jonathan Riffe, units from Huntingtown and the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department (Company 1) arrived and found the one-story home with โ€œheavy fire throughout.โ€ Riffe reported the blaze โ€œwas knocked down within minutes.โ€

Units and personnel from Dunkirk (Company 5) and Prince Frederick (Company 2) were also dispatched to the scene. According to a report posted by Company 5, an occupant of the house sustained burns to the legs and was flown to a hospital.

No further details were divulged. When contacted, a spokesman at the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Southern Regional Office reported the agency was not dispatched and no investigation by that agency was conducted.
