Walden/Sierra received a $5,000 grant from BJ’s Charitable Foundation in support of child abuse services. This grant will greatly assist Walden/Sierra’s ability to meet the growing need for these services in Southern Maryland and help the most vulnerable members of our community.
“We are extremely grateful for this much-needed support,” said Kathleen O’Brien, Ph.D., Executive Director of Walden/Sierra. “Obtaining funding to meet the rising demand for these critical services in our growing community is an ongoing process,” she added.
This grant will also support Walden’s efforts to assist more victims of child abuse through additional services at their new Lexington Park office, which opened in November 2006. According to Dr. O’Brien, “This new location is an important step in expanding our programs, including child abuse services, to reach more people in the Lexington Park area.”
Supporting Walden/Sierra’s child abuse services furthers the mission of BJ’s Charitable Foundation, which is to promote the enhancement and enrichment of community programs that primarily benefit children and families.
