PATROL OFFICERS APPREHEND BURGLARY SUSPECT: On April 7 at 9:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 3800 block of Lakewood Place in Waldorf for the report of a possible burglary in which a witness saw two males jumping over a fence in a neighborโs backyard. Members of the Sheriffโs Office TAC team, who were already in the area, and responding patrol officers observed the suspects running toward a wooded area. They pursued the suspects on foot and saw one suspect throw an object into a small drainage pond. That suspect, Ryan Jay Mills, 22, of Upper Marlboro, was apprehended a short distance away. He told officers he threw a camera in the pond but a search revealed it was a set of car keys. Using the alert button on the key fob, officers located the car – a silver Dodge Charger – and linked it to the suspect. The car was parked about 100 feet away from the house where the suspects were first spotted. Officers checked the house and determined the suspects had indeed broken in by smashing out a rear window. Once inside, they stacked multiple electronics – including TVโs and game systems – near the front door but fled before removing the property. Officers continued canvassing the neighborhood and found another house had been broken into and a game system had been stolen. Detectives charged Mills with burglary and theft.ย Investigators are in the process of identifying the second suspect.
