WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man has been charged after investigators determined he failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements in Charles County, according to court records.

The suspect was identified as Robert Anderson Reed, 22, of Waldorf. Charging documents state the alleged violation occurred on Jan. 14, 2026, at an address along Leonardtown Road.

According to a statement of charges, Reed is required to register as a Tier III sex offender following prior convictions in Virginia. Records indicate Reed initially registered with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office in October 2025 and was informed of his obligation to maintain updated registration information under state and federal law.

Investigators allege Reed’s registration expired on Jan. 13, 2026, and that he failed to re-register as required. Authorities stated Reed did not contact law enforcement to complete the renewal process, resulting in the alleged violation.

An arrest warrant was issued on Jan. 16 and served on Jan. 21. Court records show Reed was initially held without bond following his arrest.

During a bail review hearing on Jan. 22, a judge ordered Reed released on his own recognizance. A trial-related officer scheduling hearing is set for March 13 in Charles County District Court.
