Waldorf is considered one of the best places to live in America by CNNโs Money Magazine, according to a list of the 100 best places to live released Monday.ย The list cites Waldorfโs โwelcoming vibeโ and โsafe streetsโ and states that the median home price is $189,900 in Waldorf.

The average median housing price, at least among the list of the 100 best places to live, is $269.768.

โCharles County has always been about promoting an excellent quality of life,” Charles County Commissioner Ken Robinson (D: 1st) said in reaction to the ranking.ย “As the northern part of the county (Waldorf) has evolved into a diverse bedroom community, that very important quality remains and has now been nationally recognized.โ

CNN Money considers employment opportunities, quality of education, crime rate statistics, quality of health care and the overall quality of life when compiling the list.

โAfter the remodel of its two-story, 981,000-square-foot shopping mall in 2007, Waldorf is now considered the major retail spot in Southern Maryland,โ CNN Money Magazineโs article says.

CNN Money named the town of Carmel, Indiana, which is located 16.6 miles north of downtown Indianapolis, the best place to live.ย Reston, Virginia (seventh), Columbia, MD/Ellicott City, MD (eighth), Gaithersburg, MD (23rd) and Germantown, MD (24th) all made the top-25 of the 100 item list.

The St. Charles communities, which are located in Waldorf, have often been praised for their โsmart growthโ practices.ย Waldorf is the most populous area in Charles County with 67,752 of the countyโs 149,130 residents living in Waldorf.
