Update Sept. 19, 2:05 p.m.

Three children were transported to a local hospital with severe burns. The reason for the burns was due to an explosion, which set the boat ablaze.

The boat explosion [fire] occurred in Calvert County on Mill Creek in Lusby. 

The children’s ages are 3,8 and 9. They currently are being treated at a local hospital. 

The parents of the three injured children–Tamara Johnson-Harman, 27, of Waldorf and Devyn James Harman, 31, of Lusby–were on the boat at the time of the incident. 

The cause of the fire is sill unclear, the investigation is still ongoing.

Sept. 19, 11:45 p.m.

According to the Prince Frederick VFD a water rescue is in progress in the 12600 block of Rousby Hall Road due to a boat explosion.

Units are on the scene. There are five known patients and a helicopter has been requested for two victims with burns.
