The Stripers are on the move again with the hot water at 86.4 on Thursday, July 30. Even with cooler days less than 95 degrees it takes a lot of rain or cooler days to get it back down.

The Fish are feeding on the tide changes, early and late when it is cooler. They are at Cedar Point, Cove Point and Buoy 77 at day break. They do not stay up long, but can be jigged on when found. On Tuesday, myself and Ken Lamb, owner of the Tackle Box,ย were out and we caught 52 Stripers, keeping only two. Spot in the Patuxent River is the big hit now. They are getting big and there are lots of them.

Croaker are late evening fish at best. There are Bluefish to be had off buoys 68 to 72A and east of them. Trolling spoons will also see Spanish mackerel according to Capt. Phil Langley on Chesapeake Charm. There are some Red Fish in the area above the Target Ship but you have to find them while trolling and drop bait on them.ย

Flounder are hard to find and few are keepers at this time. When the waters cool off they will return again.ย
