LEONARDTOWN, Md. – On September 5, 2024, Stephanie Marie Murphy, 45, of Temple Hills, MD, was arrested in connection with the theft of medication at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.
Her arrest followed an ongoing investigation, which began in March 2024 and included the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies: Maryland State Police, Prince George’s County Police Department, Southern Maryland Intelligence Center (SMIC), and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. Following her arrest, Murphy was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and was later released.
As the investigation continued, it was determined that Murphy had misrepresented her identity while using an online platform designed to assist with staffing at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. On September 9, 2024, a Circuit Court arrest warrant was issued, charging the suspect with 25 counts of misrepresentation – registered nurse and 27 counts of practicing registered nursing by fraudulent representation.
On September 26, Murphy voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement and is currently on pretrial release.

I hope she gets help but wrong is wrong. I really question the role of their human resources in doing background checks. The nursing shortage may be leading institutions to cutting corners and letting unqualified or impaired persons care for the infirm. Recently I read about a no-goodnick selling nursing licenses to the unqualified. He was sent to prison.
This person was an agency employee working under another name, all credentials checked out according to person she claimed to be.
Sentencing should be doubled for crimes against elderly and veterans. Triple in this case.
Maybe she was doing it for Mike Evans.
Wow no wayyy I used to work at the Veterans Home not anymore but I came across this and I’m shocked I remembered her as soon I saw her picture I used to talk to her sometimes and say hi to her she be working on the floor and was part of Agency workers but this is wrong why? Veterans Home still struggles to improve even with the new company cuz of employees
