On Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 2:00am, TFC M. Pitcher conducted a traffic stop in the area of Route 235 and Route 237, California, MD on a red SUV for a minor traffic violation.
Contact was made with the driver, Crystal Marie Higgs, 25, of Great Mills. Field Sobriety was performed indicating intoxication. Ms. Higgs was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol.
During the investigation, it was learned Ms. Higgs left her juvenile child at home unattended. Ms. Higgs was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where she was charged with DUI and Neglect of a Minor.
Ms. Higgs was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
