Charlotte Hall, MD – Elaunda Mitchell, of Landover Hills, Md. has been arrested and charged with attempting to obtain a prescription by fraud/deceit and attempting to obtain a prescription by using a false name.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department responded to information received regarding a possible fraudulent prescription being passed at a pharmacy in Charlotte Hall.
After receiving further information from the pharmacy and the alleged issuing physician, it was confirmed that the prescription was fraudulent.
Mitchell arrived at the pharmacy and identified herself using the name on the false prescription.ย She then received the prescribed drugs and was immediately stopped by detectives.
After stopping her detectives recovered evidence, which included documentation indicating Mitchell has been perpetrating a prescription fraud scheme at various other pharmacies in the Southern Maryland region.
Additional charges are pending a review with Stateโs Attorney Richard D. Fritz.
