A description of the suspect was broadcasted and the suspect, Dominique Rashad Taylor, 18 of Montross, Va., was located a short distance from the residence.
Investigation revealed the victim and Taylor were in a verbal altercation which escalated into a physical assault when Taylor grabbed the victim by the back of the neck, choked her and then punched her. The woman attempted to flee the apartment and summon help from a neighbor, but Taylor grabbed her and dragged her back into the apartment. The woman eventually was able to trick Taylor into leaving the apartment and when he did, she locked him out. Taylor then attempted to regain entry into the apartment through a side window. As Taylor was attempting to enter the apartment through the window the woman screamed. Taylor pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at her. Taylor then fled the area.
Dominique Rashad Taylor was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, under 21 and in possession of a regulated handgun, using a handgun in the commission of a violent crime and carrying a concealed handgun.
