La Plata, MD – A La Plata woman will face sentencing July 20 for conspiracy to distribute heroin after appearing before Charles County Circuit Court Judge Helen I. Harrington Tuesday, April 7.
Patricia Ann Hetz, 46 of La Plata, in a plea agreement with the Charles County Stateโs Attorneyโs Office, was allowed to plea to a lesser charge of conspiracy to distribute, rather than the possession of a narcotic with intent to distribute. Even with the plea, she could face 20 years and a $25,000 fine.
โEven with this plea, the guidelines call for 18 months in the Charles County Detention Center,โ Harrington said. โI am deferring sentencing you until July so you can get into treatment.โ
Charles County Assistant Stateโs Attorney Jeremy Widder told the court Hetzโs charges stemmed from a search warrant executed on the womanโs residence April 25, 2014. Once three people, including Hetz, were handcuffed during the search, she told them to stop, Widder said.
โShe told them she didnโt want her house ripped apart,โ Widder noted.
Hetz led officers to the master bedroom and pointed to a dresser drawer where they found five baggies containing what tested positive for heroin, digital scales, hypodermic syringes and rope.
Harrington, while postponing sentencing, told Hetz to report to the Charles County Health Department.
