WALDORF, Md. — One person was seriously injured Dec. 22, 2025, in a two-vehicle crash that required extrication and a medevac response at a busy Waldorf intersection.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Crain Highway and Mattawoman Drive. Emergency crews were dispatched after reports that airbags had deployed and at least one occupant remained trapped inside a vehicle.

First responders found a driver pinned by a crushed driver-side door. Firefighters worked to extricate the patient while additional units were requested due to the severity of the injuries. EMS evaulated the injured woman in her 30s who suffered a crushed pelvis. Another occupant signed a care refusal on the scene.

Firefighters established a landing zone at Pinefield Park, where a Maryland State Police Trooper 2 medevac helicopter was directed to transport the patient. She was flown to UM Capital Region Medical Center in Largo with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
