Lexington Park, MD— On May 22, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Mushchette responded to the area of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for the report of a domestic assault.
Contact was made with the victim who advised, “she was in a verbal argument at Carefree Way in Great Mills with the defendant because she applied for a protective order against him,” according to charging documents.
The victim then advised that the defendant, identified as Harold E. Williams, 46 of Lexington Park struck her with a closed fist in the face and pushed her to the ground.
The victim also advised she was able to flee the residence with her child who was present during the assault.
The victim displayed visible signs of injury to her face and her right arm. Mushchette arrested and transported Williams to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Williams was charged with second-degree assault.
Williams has a scheduled hearing set for July 21 in District Court. Williams faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
