La Plata, MD – Patricia Latoya Tribbett, 32 of Clinton, was back in Charles County Circuit Court before Judge Amy J. Bragunier Tuesday, Sept. 29.

She will be making many return trips.

Tribbett stole a considerable amount of money from PNC Bank and faced an eight-count indictment for theft back in January 2009.

The following summer, the court found in favor of PNC.

Tribbettโ€™s punishmentโ€”to pay back the $32,361 she stole.

According to Charles County Assistant Stateโ€™s Attorney Tiffany Campbell, she still has a long way to go.

โ€œShe still owes $28,000,โ€ Campbell stated. โ€œShe should pay restitution or go to jail.

โ€œThe victim is a bank,โ€ she added. โ€œThat doesnโ€™t lessen her responsibility.โ€

โ€œThe bank has a right to be heard,โ€ Bragunier agreed.

โ€œI donโ€™t think PNC Bank is passing this loss off to their customers,โ€ said Charles County Public Defender Michael Beach.

โ€œThis is a case where if she doesnโ€™t pay, she needs to go back to jail,โ€ Bragunier stated.

โ€œThere are multiple payments,โ€ Beach said. โ€œSheโ€™s scraping every dime together to pay. To just go to jailโ€ฆshe wants that money to be paid. If she works, she can continue to do that.โ€

Beach told the court he had two receipts showing that Tribbett paid $242 over a three-week period and paid $500 in July and said there was another $460 that hasnโ€™t posted yet.

Tribbettโ€™s probation agent requested a record of those payments for his files and said the defendant must send her payment every 30 days.

Apparently she was not sending the payments to the right address.

Bragunier instructed Tribbett to return to court Oct. 28 for an update.

โ€œAnd send your payments to the right place,โ€ the judge said. โ€œThe states attorneyโ€™s office has a much more reliable accounting system.โ€
