Prince Frederick, MD — Financial planning for your future is a subject that everyone struggles with, but for parents of disabled children it’s especially important.

Balancing needs for their own retirement with the special needs of their children is a challenge. How can these parents make sure their kids are taken care of when they are no longer able to?

The Connection, in Prince Frederick, is hosting a workshop with financial expert Joshua Wynne from Edward Jones on Thursday, September 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

He’ll cover topics like special needs trusts, the Maryland Able Account and the effects they have on SSI benefits. There will also be tips on securing special needs accounts from predators.

Wynne will cover the top 10 things families must do and the top 10 things to avoid. Plus ways to balance saving for current and future needs and where to turn for help.

Wynne says, “Most families are unaware that we can plan to provide a good quality of life now, preserve benefits for later, and ensure lasting care for years to come in a very straightforward way. It’s a team effort, resources are out there but they can be hard to find.ย  enlisting the right people can make all the difference.”

The Connection is located atย 440 Solomons Island Road Suite 214 in Prince Frederick. The organization was founded byย Pam Willey to help developmentally disabled young adults and their families by offering services like this workshop.ย
