SOLOMONS, Md. — The Youth Market, previously planned for June 7, has been postponed due to rain. The event has been rescheduled for the following Saturday, June 14, at the Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons. The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

While the event was originally billed as “rain or shine,” Annmarie Sculpture Garden said they wanted “to give these kids the best chance at having a successful day of market magic!” when announcing the new date on their social media channels.

The good news is that applications have reopened — so if you’re a young entrepreneur aged 7 to 22, you get a new opportunity to showcase your work. Interested people or groups can apply here to participate. Organizers encourage participants to be original, creative, and bring their sense of humor.

The event is designed to display the work of young entrepreneurs and creatives in Southern Maryland and give them the opportunity to run their booth like a real business. From innovative ideas to business ventures to arts and crafts and more, market-goers can support local businesses and help kids gain new skills.

Running a booth can teach kids the ins and outs of business ownership, like budgeting, bookkeeping, and customer service. This is also an exciting chance for creatives to share their passions with the community.

Now let’s hope for sunshine and success next Saturday for these young entrepreneurs.
