
HOLLYWOOD, Md. — Firefighters in Hollywood responded swiftly Friday afternoon, October 17, 2025, after a vehicle caught fire just feet from a two-story apartment building on Mervell Dean Road.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at 24494 Mervell Dean Road, where a 911 caller reported heavy smoke and flames coming from a vehicle parked beside the residence. Upon arrival, Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Engine 73 crews found the SUV engulfed in smoke, with the fire beginning to threaten the nearby structure.
Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line and extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the apartment building. No injuries were reported, and no structural damage occurred, according to officials on scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
