At 4:27 a.m. Friday, St. Mary’s patrol officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Clarke’s Mill Rd. in Hollywood.
Upon arrival it was discovered a 2003 Dodge Neon SRT 4 had overturned and struck a tree.
The operator of the vehicle, James W. Wendler, 20, of Hollywood, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigation by Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstructionists determined the vehicle was traveling northbound on Clark’s Mill Road, in the area of Paige Lane, when the operator lost control of the vehicle, left the northbound side of the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the collision, police say.
The investigation is on-going by members of the Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Team.
