FOREST HEIGHTS, Md. — National View, a massive development project by Petra Development, has cleared the latest approvals needed to move the project forward — the final land use approval from the Prince George’s County Planning Board. The approval allows Petra Development to seek financing and bring the project to the City Council for approval.
National View is a 21-acre, 1.4 million-square-foot project that will be mixed-use and mixed-income. The space will accommodate residences, office space and retail space. The plan includes 1,500 residential units, including some low-income senior housing units, a grocery store and a daycare center.
The site is located at 1501 Southern Ave., just over the D.C. border and about a quarter of a mile from the nearest Green Line Metro station stop.
Petra Development’s page dedicated to the project on their website describes the project as:
“Located within the Capital Beltway, this 21-acre mixed-use/mixed-income community will transform the area with a vibrant array of housing types as well as retail and commercial uses. Only a few minutes from Washington, DC, Virginia, and National Harbor, National View will become an outstanding example of Petra’s commitment to innovative and extraordinary development in the DC Metropolitan Area.”
The Prince George’s County Planning Board approved the conceptual site plan earlier this year and requested revisions to ensure Petra provides an archaeological report and a plan to account for any historic considerations in the design.
