At 8:03 p.m. on November 14, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to Drake Court in Waldorf for the report of people fighting with guns.

Investigation revealed two vehicles, each with two occupants, turned onto Drake Court, where a group of five males with whom they are acquainted were standing in front of a residence. Two of the occupants exited their vehicles and an argument with the group of males ensued. During the dispute, the group of males fired several shots from a rifle. Several of the rounds struck two vehicles, including one of the victimsโ€™ vehicles, and yard sign. The victims fled in their vehicles.ย

Officers located the victims in their vehicles nearby. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded and through their investigation, they identified the five male suspects: Jermaine Christopher Stringer, 20, of Waldorf; Mitchell Andre Roberts, 22, of Accokeek; Albert McDaniel Lyles, 17, of Waldorf; Daniel Steven Alston, 20, of Accokeek and a 17-year-old Waldorf boy.

Lyles and Alston were arrested on Dec. 18, Roberts was arrested on Dec. 27 and Stringer was arrested on Jan. 2. They were each indicted on Jan. 12. They are being charged with four counts each of attempted first-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault, two counts of malicious destruction of property valued at more than $500, reckless endangerment and malicious destruction of property valued at less than $500.

The suspects were transported to the Charles County Detention Center after their arrests. Stringer is being held without bond, Lyles and Alston are being held on $250,000 bonds and Roberts was released on a $100,000 bond. The fifth suspect has not been charged. Det. C. Shankster is investigating.
