St. Mary’s County Social Services Relocates Office To Great Mills

GREAT MILLS, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Department of Social Services has relocated its Lexington Park office to a new site in Great Mills, opening inside the St. Mary’s Caring Soup Kitchen building at 20331 Point Lookout Road.

Officials said the move, which took effect Sept. 2, 2025 is designed to improve accessibility for clients while maintaining uninterrupted benefits and services. The former office was located on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park.

“We want the community to know that while our office address has changed, the services people rely on remain the same,” the department said in its announcement.

The new office is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Residents can continue to reach the customer care team at 240-895-7000 for assistance. More information is available on the St. Mary’s County Department of Social Services website.

The Department of Social Services provides a wide range of support to county residents, including food and cash assistance programs, child and adult services, and resources for families in need.

  1. social services asks you for certain documents in order to apply for stuff. What if you don’t have the documents? What makes them think you have the documents? What are we supposed to do if we don’t have the documents that we’re being asked for to apply for stuff? No directions on the social services website about hhow to handle these situations. Be fair! ok, ok, ok, no directions on any of the websites that ask you for stuff what you’re suposed to do if you don’t have it.

    1. The staff at the agency will advise you on how to get documents that you may or may not have. Please go to the office and find out what you need and how to get it.
