MECHANICSVILLE, Md.— The Third Annual Devil’s Den Escape Rooms Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, at Wicomico Shores Golf Course, raising money for renewable scholarships benefiting dependents of first responders, veterans and active-duty military members.

The two-player scramble supports the Devil’s Den Scholarship Fund and the 2026 BECA Scholarship program, helping invest in the educational futures of local students.

Devil’s Den Escape Rooms opened in summer 2023 with a focus on community involvement alongside entertainment.

“Devil’s Den Escape Rooms is an escape room facility. If you are not familiar with the concept, essentially, we are a family friendly entertainment establishment centered around immersive, puzzle solving experiences,” said Michael Sokoloff, managing director of Devil’s Den Escape Rooms. “When we decided to open a business, it was important to us that we be a part of the community, not just a business asking the folks in the community to spend their money with us. We wanted to give back.”

Sokoloff said the scholarship fund reflects the family’s commitment to supporting what they describe as heroes.

“We are huge supporters of what we describe as ‘heroes.’ Specifically, our heroes are our first responders and military members who willingly give their time and sometimes far more to keep us safe,” he said. “Combining that respect with both of our extended families and their dedication to education, it only seemed natural that we establish a scholarship fund to benefit the children of those heroes.”

Organizers say the goal of the scholarship fund is to award a renewable scholarship each year to a deserving student connected to military or first responder service. The scholarship may be renewed for up to four years of higher education or trade school.

“Our goal is to raise the money for the scholarship fund so that we can issue a scholarship every year to the deserving child of one of our heroes,” Sokoloff said.

Last year’s tournament raised approximately $4,000 for the fund. Sokoloff said he hopes to match or exceed that total in 2026, potentially allowing for two renewable scholarships to be awarded.

The tournament will help benefit the 2026 BECA Scholarship program through the St. Mary’s County Business, Education and Community Alliance, of which Devil’s Den Escape Rooms is a participating organization. The program supports more than $200,000 in local scholarships funded by about 70 organizations. The collaborative effort helps expand access to higher education opportunities for local students.

The 2026 BECA Scholarship application period runs from Jan. 15 through March 6, 2026.

BECA, formally known as the St. Mary’s County Business, Education, and Community Alliance, Inc., is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping students from St. Mary’s County pursue higher education. Each year, BECA hosts the St. Mary’s County Common Scholarship Application, which includes more than $200,000 in locally funded scholarships. In addition, the organization raises funds for its own scholarship awards and has provided more than 300 scholarships to local high school graduates since 1995.

The April 20 tournament will follow a two-player scramble format with an entry fee of $100 per player. Registration is available at tinyurl.com/DDGolf3.
