WALDORF, Md. — From pho and banh mi sandwiches to colorful matcha drinks and fusion-style tacos, a new restaurant is bringing fresh flavors to Waldorf.
Rice & Spice, located at 3380 Middletown Road, Suite 102, recently opened with a menu built around Vietnamese-inspired dishes, Asian fusion favorites and handcrafted beverages.
During a recent visit, several menu items made their way to the table, including the Viet tacos, Viet-rito, banh mi sandwich and protein bowl. The variety gave everyone a chance to sample different parts of the menu, from handheld favorites to larger entrees.
The Viet tacos were a favorite at the table, offering a flavorful twist on a traditional taco with fresh toppings and well-seasoned protein. The Viet-rito packed plenty of flavor and quickly became one of the group’s standout picks, while the banh mi combined tender pork, fresh vegetables and a satisfying crunch.
The protein bowl impressed with generous portions, fresh ingredients and flavors that had everyone talking about ordering it again next time. Every dish that came to the table looked fresh and made to order, and there wasn’t a single item that disappointed.
Those looking for appetizers will find spring rolls, shrimp wontons, fried chicken dumplings and crab lagoons. Rice & Spice also serves wings and shrimp with a variety of sauces, including Buffalo, Cajun, Garlic Honey Soy, Garlic Butter, Hot Honey Butter and Garlic Parmesan.
The drink menu is equally impressive. Guests can choose from Vietnamese iced coffee, Thai tea, milk teas, matcha lattes, sparkling fruit drinks and smoothies. Popular options include the Strawberry Matcha Latte, Mango Matcha Latte, Brown Sugar Latte and Strawberry Lemonade Sparkling Soda.
Rice & Spice describes its food as “bold Asian flavors, freshly crafted daily,” and that focus on freshness was evident throughout the meal.
With its mix of comfort food, street-food favorites and creative drinks, Rice & Spice offers something a little different for local diners looking to try a new restaurant.
