Red Bowl Hibachi And Red Chili Burgers Near Opening At Former Lefty’s In Waldorf

WALDORF, Md. — If you’ve been wondering what’s coming to the former Lefty’s Barbeque building in Waldorf, the wait may soon be over.

Two new restaurants — Red Chili Burgers & Wings and Red Bowl Hibachi & Chicken — are preparing to open side by side at 2064 and 2066 Crain Highway in the Pinefield South Shopping Center. Although they’ll share the former Lefty’s Barbeque building, they’re two separate concepts with different menus, both owned by the same local ownership group.

While no official grand opening dates have been announced, The BayNet recently spoke with a member of the ownership team, who said both restaurants are in the final stages of inspections and permitting. If everything stays on schedule, the owners hope to welcome customers within the next month or two.

Before that happens, however, Southern Maryland diners may get an early preview. The company’s first Charles County location of Red Chili Burgers & Wings, located at 175 Smallwood Village Center in Waldorf, is further along in the inspection and permitting process and is expected to open before the Pinefield South restaurants. Once that location opens, attention will turn to welcoming customers at both the Pinefield South Red Chili Burgers & Wings and Red Bowl Hibachi & Chicken locations.

Red Chili Burgers & Wings will offer a menu that includes single, double and triple smash burgers, specialty burgers, chicken tenders, Philly cheesesteaks, fish and chicken sandwiches, shrimp, seafood platters, loaded fries, rice bowls and salads.

Wing lovers will have plenty to choose from, with about 20 signature flavors ranging from sweet and savory to spicy. Options include Chili Nectar, Mango Habanero, Hot Honey, Honey Garlic, Honey Sriracha, Honey Jerk, Sweet Chili, Garlic Parmesan, Truffle Parmesan, Caribbean Jerk, Old Bay, Lemon Pepper and Teriyaki Glaze.

Next door, Red Bowl Hibachi & Chicken offers a different dining experience centered around freshly prepared Japanese-inspired hibachi. Guests will be able to order chicken, steak, shrimp, salmon and combination hibachi meals served with two sides, along with bento boxes featuring sushi rolls, spring rolls and dumplings.

Owners say waht Red Bowl apart is its signature house-made Chili Teriyaki sauce, a sweet-and-spicy twist on traditional teriyaki that’s featured in the restaurant’s hibachi dishes. Guests can also enjoy wet or dry-rub wings with the restaurant’s signature Honey Herb and Lemon Pepper flavors.

With the Smallwood Village location expected to open first, customers will have the chance to get an early preview of the Red Chili menu while the Pinefield South restaurants complete the final approval process.

Official grand opening dates will be announced once the remaining permits and inspections are finalized. The ownership team said those announcements are expected soon, and The BayNet will share the opening dates as soon as they’re confirmed, along with a first look inside both restaurants before they officially open their doors.
