Southern Charm Elite Doubles In Size, Invites Southern Maryland Community To Invest In Season Two

SOUTHERN MARYLAND — After a very successful inaugural season, Southern Charm Elite is returning to the mat with even bigger goals for its athletes and the Southern Maryland community.

Founded by local coaches Amber Lynn Lloyd and Lexie Bond, the competitive cheer program has entered its second season with three cheer teams and one dance team, nearly doubling in size from its first year. As the program grows, so does its mission of providing athletes with quality coaching, leadership opportunities and an affordable place to develop both on and off the mat.

From First-Year Athletes To Team Leaders

For the founders, the biggest accomplishment hasn’t been measured by trophies or competition scores.

Instead, it’s watching young athletes find their confidence.

“Watching our athletes grow in confidence right alongside the program,” the founders said in an interview with The BayNet. “Season One was about proving the concept and building trust with families. Season Two, we’re seeing kids who were shy on the mat now stepping up as leaders for the newer athletes. That ripple effect — where growth becomes contagious, figuratively but also literally because our program has doubled in size. We like to believe we were doing something right last year.”

That growth has allowed returning athletes to mentor newcomers while helping establish the culture Southern Charm Elite hopes to become known for throughout Southern Maryland.

More Than Cheer

While athletes spend countless hours perfecting routines, stunts and technique, the founders say their vision extends far beyond competition weekends.

“On the mat, we want athletes to walk away with real skill and correct technique,” they said. “But just as important is what happens off the mat … we want families to feel like they’re part of a community, not just a program. We hope kids carry lessons like perseverance, sportsmanship and respect into their everyday lives.”

They say creating a welcoming environment for both athletes and parents has been one of the program’s priorities since its launch.

Community Sponsors Help Keep Costs Low

As Season Two gets underway, Southern Charm Elite is inviting local businesses and community members to partner with the program through sponsorships.

The founders emphasized that sponsorships do more than offset expenses — they help ensure every child has the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances.

“Supporting Southern Charm Elite isn’t just a donation … It’s a direct investment in the character and confidence of the young people in our own community,” they said. “Every dollar of sponsorship goes toward things families feel right away: keeping tuition low and affordable, covering equipment, bonding experiences and surprises to give the athletes throughout the year, and making sure no athlete is turned away because of cost.”

They added that community support has a lasting impact on athletes.

“Kids notice when a business’s name is on their shirt or banner … it tells them that people outside their own family are invested in their success,” they said. “That kind of visible support builds pride and accountability, and it often inspires athletes to give back to their community as they grow.”

The founders also see sponsorships as a partnership, offering businesses recognition through competitions, social media and program events while connecting them with local families.

“We’re eager to feature our sponsors at events, on social media and in front of the families and community members who make up our program, so their generosity gets real visibility in return,” they said.

Looking Ahead

With Season Two already showing significant growth, Southern Charm Elite hopes to continue expanding opportunities for local youth while strengthening relationships throughout the community.

The founders encourage interested businesses, organizations and residents to connect with the program, attend a competition and experience the athletes’ dedication firsthand.

“We’d genuinely love for interested businesses or community members to reach out, come to one of our competitions, and see firsthand the energy and impact they have made,” they said. “And hopefully we’ll be able to invite them to a local showcase in the near future.”

As Southern Charm Elite continues to grow, its founders say the ultimate goal remains unchanged: creating a place where young athletes can build confidence, develop lasting friendships and discover what they’re capable of — both on and off the mat.
