Port of Leonardtown Winery is proud to announce your community’s “local wines from local vines” honored in the prestigious 27th Annual Maryland Governor’s Cup Competition.  20 regional wine experts tasted and judged over 150 Maryland wines including sparkling, white, rosés and reds analyzing the special characteristics of each to determine worthy recipients.  Wines awarded Gold medals were then critiqued for Best in Class and Best in Show honors.

Receiving a total of 9 awards, Port of Leonardtown Winery won 4 Gold medals (McIntosh Run, 5th Anniversary Red, Chambourcin Reserve 2011, Vintner’s Select Vidal Blanc 2014), 2 Silvers (5th Anniversary White, Albariño 2014), and 3 Bronzes (Chardonnay 2013, Traminette 2014, Petit Verdot Reserve 2012).  McIntosh Run, crafted from Maryland harvested apples, also received Best in Class honors making this the Best Fruit Wine in Maryland for 5 of the last 6 years!

Port of Leonardtown Winery is made up of 11 cooperative vineyards in St. Mary’s, Charles, Calvert and Kent counties and is delighted to be a local community winery serving Southern Maryland and its visitors.  The winery and tasting room are located at the heart of Port of Leonardtown Park.  For 6 years running, Port of Leonardtown’s cooperative efforts have made award winning local wines from local vines in Southern Maryland.
