HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — When a Florida family moved to Southern Maryland last year, the stress of relocating across states was overwhelming. They needed a deep clean before settling into their new home, but finding a reliable company from a distance wasn’t easy. With no prior connection to the area, they turned to online reviews and took a chance on a small, locally owned business — A Cleaner You, LLC.
“They hired us sight unseen, just based on reviews online and a discussion,” said Lance Emery, who co-owns the cleaning service with his wife, Shannon. “It was a huge deep clean, a whole-day operation. The house looked amazing, smelled amazing, and he was tickled pink.”
Impressed with the results, the homeowner not only left a glowing review but also became a regular client. It’s a story Lance remembers well—one of many—that highlights how word-of-mouth and trust have shaped their business.

A Hands-On Approach to Cleaning
A Cleaner You, LLC launched in March 2023, serving Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, and Calvert counties. Unlike larger cleaning companies that send rotating crews, Shannon takes a different approach—she handles every job herself.
“That’s what people love,” Shannon said. “They ask, ‘Are we getting you, or are we going to be getting some random crew?’ And I say, ‘Oh no, you’re going to get me,’ and they just light up.”
Many customers, she said, have dealt with unreliable services before. Crews that change from week to week, missed appointments, notably late arrivals, or rushed jobs have left some feeling like hiring a cleaner wasn’t worth the hassle.
A Cleaner You, LLC offers residential and commercial cleaning services customized to fit each client’s needs. Their services include basic cleaning such as dusting, kitchen and bathroom cleaning, vacuuming, and mopping, along with deep cleaning options for appliances, windows, and organization. They also provide custom cleaning plans that include any combination of basic and deep cleaning options.

A Business Years in the Making
For Shannon, cleaning has never been just a job—it’s been part of her life for over two decades.
She spent years as a homemaker, cleaning homes on the side while raising a family. Later, she went back to school, earning a bachelor’s degree in business management while also working for a local cleaning company. That experience, Lance said, made them realize they could build something of their own and do it better.
As their business slogan states, “Customer Service and Quality Are Our Only Focus.” This remains the backbone and primary focus of their business.
Over time, Shannon’s role in clients’ homes has extended beyond cleaning.
“We’re a dog family, so my wife has a huge connection with all the animals at all her clients’ houses,” Lance said. “They get excited when they know she’s coming. They know her by name, and she brings treats… and if the customers are gone, she lets them out, plays with them, and even gives them water. Pets adore her attention.”
It’s small details like this, he said, that make people feel like they’re hiring more than just a cleaning service—they’re bringing in someone they trust and can rely on.
For now, Shannon runs A Cleaner You LLC operations on her own, but as demand continues to grow, they know expansion may be inevitable. However, even as the business continues to grow, Lance says their focus remains the same: consistency, quality, and trust.
