Annapolis Man Arrested After Pointing Shotgun At Speeding Motorist

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Wayne Scott Williams, a 66-year-old Annapolis man, was arrested on Thursday morning, August 8, 2024, following complaints about a man brandishing a shotgun on Bembe Beach Road.

Williams, reportedly upset about the issue of speeding in the neighborhood, allegedly pointed the shotgun at a passing motorist. Officers from the Annapolis Police Department promptly arrived on the scene and took Williams into custody without incident.

Williams faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault, second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony-violent crime, and reckless endangerment. He was released on recognizance the same day.

Captain Justin Klinedinst, Annapolis Police Patrol Commander, remarked, “The Department has received numerous complaints over the past few years about speeding. Each complaint has been addressed through visible enforcement and/or variable message signs. We remind the public to allow the police to address their concerns and not take matters into their own hands.”

Further updates will be provided as they become available.

  1. Such serious felony charges and personal recognizance release. Obviously he held a shotgun or the overreacting police would have never arrested him. Someone obviously made the report of pointing but that sounds to ridiculous. He was certainly outdoors with the weapon in his neighborhood but in MD that’s perfectly legal. The case will eventually be dismissed completely. So Marylanders are advised if you follow the constitution in the state have a second person videoing it so the way overreaching police won’t do anything but talk to you as they would be more concerned about civil suits.

  2. I live right by Wayne, I saw an officers car speeding down the very same road the day after his arrest SO…

  3. I heard that FSD v12.5.1.2 (update 2024.26.5) automatically steers toward aimed weapons.
