EDGEWATER, Md. — An Anne Arundel County police corporal is being praised for quick actions that officials say saved two lives in separate incidents just days apart.
Cpl. Lauren Pridgen, an eight-year veteran of the department assigned to the Southern District, responded to a medical emergency Aug. 19, 2025, on Solomons Island Road near Virginia Avenue in Edgewater. Police said a driver left the roadway after suffering a medical emergency. Pridgen began CPR until the driver regained a pulse.
Three days later, on Aug. 22, Pridgen was at a Safeway store in Annapolis when a man collapsed and stopped breathing. A bystander had started CPR before Pridgen used an automated external defibrillator and continued lifesaving measures until the man was breathing again.
“The Anne Arundel County Police Department is proud to recognize and honor the heroic actions of Corporal Lauren Pridgen, whose quick thinking and readiness for duty led to her saving two lives in separate, back-to-back incidents,” the department told The BayNet. “Cpl. Pridgen’s exemplary actions in both instances highlight the importance of being prepared and ready to act in an emergency. Her dedication to serving our community goes above and beyond the call of duty, and we are incredibly proud to have her on our team.”
Police also thanked emergency medical personnel who responded to both scenes, noting that their “swift and professional response in partnership with Cpl. Pridgen ensured the best possible outcome for both individuals.”
