Chesapeake Beach, MD – Big name entertainment continues to discover Calvert County and its breathtaking concert venues. Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa now offers a spectacular place to enjoy a fantastic show under the stars just about any night of the week.
During the waning days of April the place “where hospitality meets the bay,” the iconic business unveiled its roster of booked talent for the 2015 Rock the Dock series.
Many of the headliners are familiar—Phil Vassar, Martha and the Vandellas, Sheila E., Marty Stuart, Lee Greenwood and Brothers Osbourne.
There will also be performance artists paying tribute to the originals. Robert Eric is a Billy Joel tribute artist, Sir Rod pays homage to Rod Stewart, The Natural Wonder is billed as “the Ultimate Stevie Wonder Experience.” Walt Wise is an Elton John tribute artist.
Also scheduled this year are Bruce in the USA (a Bruce Springsteen tribute), Sons of Pirates (a Jimmy Buffet tribute) and Who’s Bad (a Michael Jackson tribute artist).
Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa has also booked several tribute bands for the 2015 season, including Second Hand News (Fleetwood Mac), Slippery When Wet (Bon Jovi), The Long Run (Eagles), High Voltage (AC/DC) and ZoSo (Led Zeppelin).

Other artists slated to do shows include the one-hit wonder group The Winstons, local favorite John Luskey, the legendary bluegrass group Seldom Scene, Darryl Davis, Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra and the Nowhere Men.
Greg Lupton will be entertaining every Monday except May 25 (Memorial Day), Roger McDuffy will be featured every Tuesday and Joe Martone (pictured) is scheduled to perform every Wednesday except July 22 and 29. The Joe Martone Trio has performances scheduled during four of the five months of Rock the Dock.
The performances will be on the Chesapeake Bay at the resort’s band shell outdoor stage, a replica of the Town of Chesapeake Beach’s original band shell. “The original band shell was constructed as part of the grand opening of the boardwalk in June 1900,” a Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa press release stated. “It is rumored that John Phillip Sousa’s band traveled to Chesapeake Beach between 1900 and 1910 and played while marching from the railway station to the band shell.”

The resort’s newly enhanced South Beach gives audiences an ideal location for enjoying the live performances. White sand and palm trees add to the ambiance. The Boardwalk Café within close range, too.

“Our goal is to offer music that satisfies the tastes of all of our guests,” stated Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa owner Gerald Donovan. “We have added a variety of music genres to expand our reach and bring more people to Chesapeake Beach.”
Rock the Dock officially starts Thursday, May 21 when Vassar, a country music singer/songwriter best known for the hit “Just Another Day in Paradise” performs.
