(Lancaster, PA September 15, 2015) —Southern Marylandโs offense was only able to muster four hits against York on Sunday evening.ย This evening in game one of a three game set against the Barstormers, the offense banged out just five hits as Lancaster defeated Southern Maryland 3-1.
Lancaster used five pitchers on the evening.ย It was the RHP Pete Andrelczyk who picked up the victory out of the pen, throwing two scoreless innings.ย RHP Mark Lamm, RHP Scott Gracey, and Marcus Walden each pitched innings out of the bullpen, allowing one run between the four pitchers.
The Barstormers got on the board early in the bottom of the second by scoring two runs.ย Brian Cavazos-Galvez, and Luke Hughes each drove in runs with RBI singles to make it 2-0.ย Lancaster added one more run in the bottom of the seventh when Kevin Rivers stepped up to the dish, and drove a homerun over the wall in right to bring the score to 3-0.
Jovan Rosa drove in the only run of the ballgame for the Blue Crabs in the top of the ninth with an RBI single.ย RHP Tim Sexton pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, while striking out six.
Southern Maryland is now on a three game losing streak, and two games under the .500 overall for the season.ย The last time Southern Maryland was under .500 was back on May 7th.ย On the flip side, Barstormers manager Butch Hobson became the Atlantic Leagueโs all-time winningest manager with tonightโs victory.
The series continues tomorrow in Lancaster.ย The first pitch is set for 7:00 P.M.ย The Blue Crabs will be looking to break a three game losing streak.
