Representatives of the Southern Maryland Young Marines and Debbie Mister display their CAASA Eagle Awards.

Prince Frederick, MD โ€“ At their annual meeting and awards program Oct. 27 the Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse (CAASA) elected officers for 2014-2015. The new officers are Debbie Mister, president; Janet Bateman, vice president; William Smith, treasurer; and Barbara Brown, secretary. These outstanding volunteers were chosen by the CAASA Board of Directors and members to assist the alliance in attaining its mission of involving the entire community in promoting a healthy environment, free of alcohol and other drug abuse.

Additionally, CAASA honored over 60 individuals, local businesses and community groups for their alcohol and other drug prevention efforts in Calvert County. The allianceโ€™s highest honor, the Eagle Award, was awarded in four categories and presented to:

Bateman Community Eagle Award โ€“ Southern Maryland Young Marines
Education Eagle Award โ€“ Jen Bruno, Patuxent High School
CAASA Board of Directorsโ€™ Eagle Award โ€“ Debbie Mister
