PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – May 19, 2020 – The Calvert County Board of Elections will provide a ballot drop box for citizens to submit ballots for the 2020 presidential primary election, scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2020. The secure drop box will be available beginning Thursday, May 21 through Tuesday, June 2 at 8 p.m., at the Community Resources Building at 30 Duke St. in Prince Frederick.
The drop box will be located at the rear of the building beneath the stairwell. The box is under video surveillance 24 hours a day and Board of Elections staff will retrieve ballots from the box three times per day.
All active, eligible voters were mailed a ballot to the address on record earlier this month. The election will be conducted primarily by mail, in accordance with a proclamation by Gov. Larry Hogan, in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Citizens can also mail completed ballots using the prepaid, addressed reply envelope provided with the ballot. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before June 2.
All voters must sign the Oath of Absentee Voter on the back of the reply envelope when submitting either by drop box or mail.
Those who are unable to vote by mail may vote in person on Presidential Primary Election Day, June 2, 2020, at the vote center located at 30 Duke St., Lower Level, in Prince Frederick. In-person voting is extremely limited; voters who can vote by mail are strongly encouraged to do so in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
The last day to register to vote or change voter registration information, including political party affiliation, is May 27, 2020.
Due to the continuing state of emergency, the Calvert County Board of Elections office and Community Resource Building are currently closed to the general public.
