PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for its 2026 Citizens Police Academy, a five-month program designed to give residents an inside look at local law enforcement operations.
The academy is scheduled to begin March 10 and will consist of five evening classes held monthly from 6 to 8 p.m. Sessions will take place at the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, located at 30 Church St. in Prince Frederick.
The Citizens Police Academy offers participants an overview of how the Sheriff’s Office functions, with instruction led by sworn deputies and staff members. Through interactive presentations and discussions, attendees will learn about the agency’s various divisions, including the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Administrative and Judicial Bureau, and Special Operations Division.
The program is open to Calvert County residents who are at least 18 years old and do not have serious criminal convictions. The Sheriff’s Office says the academy is intended to promote transparency, understanding, and communication between law enforcement and the community.

Class dates for the 2026 academy are scheduled for March 10, April 14, May 12, June 16, and July 14.
