Calvin C. Edwards Jr. was born to Calvin C. Edwards Sr. and Ruth Esther Edwards (Plummer) on January 30, 1949, in Alliance, Ohio. Calvin attended McKinley High School, where he played different sports. For many years he lived in Canton and Alliance, Ohio. He relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee where he resided for many years, before moving to Lexington Park, Maryland. He retired from Shoppers Grocery Store where he was a Master Butcher for many years. One of his favorite past-times was watching all of the old black and white western shows over and over again. Big fan of John Wayne “The Duke”. When spending time with his family he loved frying fish and making his famous Uncle Norman burgers.
Calvin passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He’s preceded in death by his parents, Calvin C. Edwards Sr., Ruth Esther Edwards (Plummer), and Bonus Dad, William David Plummer, his Very Special Lady-Friend Melinda Bellafronte and roommate and close friend William McEwen. Survived by his children, Celletta Jones – Brown, Theresa Edwards, Brandon Edwards, Jeff Jenkins, Monique Freeman, Shawn Freeman, Cashawnda Freeman, Calvin Freeman, Michael Freeman, and Niesha Freeman his siblings, Cheryl (Emmanuel) Bradley, Cedric Edwards, and Carmella (L.C) Adams and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and co-workers. Calvin was also Blessed to have these wonderful friends that were more like family to him Pearline Hyman, Chuck Edelman, Sherry and Tom Wolf and Pam Scott.
Per Calvin’s request, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or service. Services have been entrusted to Going Home Cremation and Funeral Care, in Woodbine, Maryland.
