SCOTLAND, Md. — First responders were recently alerted to a brush fire in southern St. Mary’s County, which began to spread to nearby brush.
At approximately 3:51 p.m. on April 9, crews were dispatched to Cornfield Harbor Drive in the area of Potomac River Way for reports of a fire. Upon arrival, units discovered an SUV which was fully engulfed in flames. The fire had additionally began to spread to the nearby woods and brush.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire after roughly 10 minutes, where they would go on to concentrate on the surrounding areas which were burning.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and there is not currently a determined cause of the fire. The Maryland State Fire Marshal has the scene under investigation.
