POMFRET, Md. — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle collision involving a utility pole on Middletown Road in Pomfret, which has resulted in significant downed wires and prompted road closures in both directions.
The collision was reported on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at approximately 5:17 p.m. near 4515 Middletown Road. Authorities indicated that a single vehicle collided with a utility pole, causing substantial damage to the pole and resulting in live wires coming down onto the roadway.
As a safety precaution, Middletown Road has been shut down from Marshalls Corner Road to the Hiker Biker Trail, impacting traffic in both directions. SMECO crews have been dispatched to the scene to secure and repair the downed electrical lines. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes to prevent delays and ensure their safety.
Currently, it is unclear if there are injuries related to this incident, and the condition of the driver involved has not yet been released.
