Caught On Sight: Wanted Lexington Park Woman Faces New Drug Charges

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park woman is facing drug charges after a deputy who recognized her as having active warrants allegedly found a glass smoking device containing suspected crack cocaine residue as she was being taken into custody.

Ashley Nicole Thomas, 39, of Lexington Park, was arrested Aug. 18 and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to charging documents, a St. Mary’s County sheriff’s deputy observed Thomas walking in the area of the Royal Farms on Tulagi Place around 10:01 p.m.

The deputy recognized Thomas from prior law enforcement encounters and knew she had active warrants for her arrest.

The deputy approached Thomas near South Coral Drive and Great Mills Road and confirmed her identity through prior encounters and her Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration profile.

Investigators confirmed Thomas had two active bench warrants.

Just before she was placed in handcuffs, Thomas allegedly pulled a glass smoking device from her bra.

The device contained a white powdery residue the deputy identified as suspected crack cocaine, according to the charging documents.

The deputy reported recognizing the residue and the smoking device as controlled dangerous substance evidence and paraphernalia based on training and experience.

Thomas was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records show Thomas was released Aug. 19 on a $1,500 unsecured personal bond.

A trial is set for Oct. 5 in St. Mary’s District Court.
