PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – What began as a report of disorderly conduct near Barstow Elementary School escalated into a series of serious drug-related charges against 34-year-old Karla Yamith Rodriguez.
On August 27th, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a disruptive individual at Barstow Elementary School located on JW Williams Road in Prince Frederick. When officers arrived, they identified the individual as Karla Yamith Rodriguez, who had been driving a black BMW. The deputy on the scene, Officer Bradley, was already familiar with Rodriguez due to previous interactions, including one that occurred earlier that week.
Despite multiple commands from the deputy, Rodriguez refused to cooperate. She appeared agitated and ignored instructions, pacing around her vehicle while an open alcoholic beverage container was visible in her car. The situation escalated as Rodriguez grew increasingly hostile, yelling profanities and behaving erratically. The deputy, in an attempt to calm her, instructed Rodriguez multiple times to cooperate, but she refused.
Rodriguez explained that she was at the school to address issues regarding her son’s class placement, but she became irate when asked further questions, accusing the officer of not listening. Her disruptive behavior continued, prompting the deputy to arrest her for disorderly conduct.
Upon further investigation and a search of her vehicle, officers discovered illicit drugs, specifically cocaine, packaged in small plastic bags typically used for distribution. These items were concealed in a larger plastic bag, placed in the front area of the car. Given the location of the incident, Rodriguez now faces severe charges, including possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance on school property, a crime that carries significant penalties.
Rodriguez was formally charged with disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) not cannabis, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, possession with intent to distribute on school property, and possession of CDS paraphernalia. She was taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.
The severity of the charges reflects the serious nature of the crimes, particularly given the location near a school. If convicted, Rodriguez could face multiple years in prison, including 20 years for the drug distribution charges alone.

Drugs and alcohol will make you do really dumb things ..She needs help .
Instead of her son’s placement , she needs to worry about her own placement and get some help, for the benefit of her son and any other kids she may have .
My heart hurts for her son…
She has mutiple arrests. She has terrorized her neighbors for months with this same behavior. She does need help, and so does her child.
This person has been menacing her neighbors for months. Police have been to the home many times I feel sorry for the child.
