Police in Anne Arundel County report a Charles County man who was driving a motorcycle was killed in an early morning collision on Route 100 near Route 295.

According to an Anne Arundel County Police Department press release, the accident happened Saturday, April 6 at 5:40 a.m. Investigators from the departmentโ€™s Traffic Safety Section (TSS) reported James Garrett Henderson, 27 of La Plata, was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson and traveling westbound on Route 100. According to witnesses, Henderson was traveling at a high rate of speed. The cycle changed lanes and struck a westbound box truck. Henderson was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he died.

The driver of the box truck and his passenger were not injured.

โ€œPreliminary investigation shows that speed is a contributing factor in this collision,โ€ the press release stated. โ€œIt is unknown at this time if drugs and alcohol contributed to this collision. The investigation is ongoing.โ€

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash who might have further information to contact the TSS at 410-222-8573.
