Police in Anne Arundel County report a Charles County man who was driving a motorcycle was killed in an early morning collision on Route 100 near Route 295.
According to an Anne Arundel County Police Department press release, the accident happened Saturday, April 6 at 5:40 a.m. Investigators from the department’s Traffic Safety Section (TSS) reported James Garrett Henderson, 27 of La Plata, was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson and traveling westbound on Route 100. According to witnesses, Henderson was traveling at a high rate of speed. The cycle changed lanes and struck a westbound box truck. Henderson was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he died.
The driver of the box truck and his passenger were not injured.
“Preliminary investigation shows that speed is a contributing factor in this collision,” the press release stated. “It is unknown at this time if drugs and alcohol contributed to this collision. The investigation is ongoing.”
